the lights...

for the past two weeks, they've been stringing up lights all throughout the streets of florence. we've been waiting in anticipation and this weekend was the first sign of them turning on.

cascine park

sunday, after a night out at bebop, we thought it'd be a good idea to get some walking in and some fresh air. molly new of a park by the river, so we packed up some stuff and started walking out there. needless to say, it was a beautiful park.

this past saturday, molly thought it would be a fun idea to get out of florence for the day. the weather has been really great this past week and so we got on a train to lucca.

lucca is a small, beautiful city. i'll let the pictures describe it some.

there is a wall built all around lucca with a path that follows it. so molly and i decided to rent bikes and try it for ourselves.

train ticket to lucca roundtrip: 10 euro, lunch: 8 euro, bikes: 2 euro.
spending a day outside of florence for 20 euro... pretty incredible!

cocktails at mayday. may be one of my new favorite places in florence.

devin and emiliano

we were there so late and there was no one there, they let us smoke.

absinthe colada cocktails. eek.

the duomo. it's been quite beautiful here in florence.

aperitivo at tori's

last week, tori threw an aperitivo party for some friends. the food was delicious and there was plenty of vino and vodka to go around.

the one picture i have of kate smiling. :)

fridays at marios

almost every friday, we go to trattoria mario. i might have mentioned this before, but it is incredible. it's like you stepped into an italian house where a grandmother is cooking a meal just for you. they serve florence classics like ribollita, bistecca alla fiorentina and my personal favorite, pollo arrosto.

since the girls have been coming here for the past year or so, we've been able to become friends with the regulars. it usually turns into a long pranzo/lunch with a lot of vino and of course grappa. i used to not like it, but they've turned me around.

this is beppe 2, he owns a vintage store in florence called Melrose. it's pretty fantastic.

this is molly. she loves cats :)

us outside of beppe's store.

pretending to be tourists

after a long afternoon of drinking, we thought we'd go out. and dress up. in heels. i'd say we clean up pretty nicely.
